Conte Leopardi wines (IT) from the Italian winery

Quality and Tradition - The Ancient Origins of Our Wines
The history of the estate is naturally linked to that of the Leopardi Counts family, which boasts ancient origins, according to which they arrived in Italy from Byzantium with the German Knights in the middle of the 4th century AD, first in Sicily and later in Rome. One of its representatives, Leopardo de 'Leopardi, was sent by Pope Innocent I and appointed the first bishop of Auximum, today Osimo, an ancient city of Picenian origin where pagan rites raged. The bishop succeeded in converting the citizenry, but he paid for his successes with martyrdom, which took place in 405 AD.
Count Piervittorio Leopardi
For several years, the owner of the company has been Count Piervittorio Leopardi Dittajuti, from a family dedicated to agriculture with great commitment and professionalism. In the early 1980s, together with his father Giuseppe, he managed the family business and immediately began the transformation process of the wine business, which was strongly linked to the past. Year after year, new vineyards were planted, aiming at the production of high-quality grapes and modern cellars with stainless steel machines and equipment, ensuring the highest level of health for the environment and materials that come into contact with food. His wife Lidia has been at his side since 1991, helping him manage the company and marketing activities.
Since August 2003, the company has been under the enological direction of Dr. Riccardo Cotarella, a world-renowned winemaker. In addition to the owner and winemaker, the staff consists of several very capable and experienced individuals:
- Manuele manages all work in the vineyards. He has the perfect experience to decide what to do to best maintain the vineyards.
- Paolo is the wine technician responsible for the winery. He has a degree in oenology and a great passion for his work.
- Juanito is responsible for the cleanliness of the cellar and the entire winemaking process.
- Cristiano works in the office and cellar, managing the warehouse for products, orders, and deliveries to customers.
- Sara is a sommelier and takes care of customers in the wine shop.
- Giada recently joined the company and also works as a sommelier in the shop.
- Giorgio, Raffaele, Gino, and Frank work in the vineyards all year round.
The Production Area
The company is located in the Marche region in the province of Ancona, in one of the most evocative hilly coastal areas overlooking the Adriatic Sea: the Conero Riviera.
The soil is marbled, calcareous, and of medium texture. The special orographic, geological, and climatic characteristics of this region have always favored viticulture and enabled the production of grapes of great value.
The climate is typically Mediterranean, influenced by the sea and frequent breezes. In terms of temperatures, there is a large temperature difference between day and night.
