The Aberfeldy distillery lies in a lush valley in the foothills of Scotland's Central Highlands, in the village of Aberfeldy, and just a stone's throw from the birthplace of its founder, John Dewar. The Pitilie Burn, the water source of the distillery, is its pure and fresh lifeline, known to contain deposits of alluvial gold.
Even today, the distillery draws its water from the same source as its founder once did. "The Pitilie Burn" is known for its quality and its promise of gold: a rare ingredient filtered from river water and heated to produce actual, real gold.
The craft
Sit back and relax with Aberfeldy's sweet, honeyed richness. Scottish barley malt and long fermentation times, which produce more aromatic esters, bring out the characteristic honey notes of Aberfeldy Single Malt. We then distill slowly in copper alembic pot stills and mature to perfection in the finest oak casks, a combination of barrels, hogsheads, and butts.
Honey-rich abundance in every drop
The whisky has a distinctive character with rare honey notes. Our longer fermentation times and oak casks make our whisky full of honeyed richness.
The pagoda roof
The pagoda stands at the heart of the distillery. Founded in 1898 and designed by Charles Doig, the pagoda roof is an iconic symbol of Scotch whisky and can be seen scattered among the rolling hills of Scotland.
Liquid gold
Water, barley, and yeast transform Aberfeldy into liquid gold. Aberfeldy Single Malt is distilled in alembic pot stills made by Forsyths in Scotland. These copper pot stills help produce a classic, fruity whisky with a rich honey flavor.
