Three generations, one family history. Grandfather "Min"—and then Livio, our father—began the story of today's Tunella in the 1960s, now owned by Massimo and Marco Zorzettig. Together with their mother, Gabriella, they are proud guardians of this family tradition, spanning over 50 years. Tunella is the perfect example of a reality where the importance of the present blends with the memory of the past, coupled with a strong drive to experiment, while almost religiously respecting the finest traditions of the Colli Orientali del Friuli: a future built upon the present, day after day.
The winery has been called Tunella since 2002: the new name, which replaced the previous one - Livio Zorzettig - is a toponym referring to a farmhouse and a hill near the vineyard, amidst meadows and vineyards, surrounded by the gentle landscape of the Colli Orientali.
Making wine means attending to the details that aren't obvious but capture the soul. Although Tunella boasts a long history, they have never lost sight of the meticulous care that characterizes the work of any small winemaker. It's no coincidence that their work philosophy is " do little, to improve ": this is how they create a high-quality, truly unique, and personal wine.
At Tunella, we believe that the beauty of the vineyards and the authenticity of the wine must be protected. The soil, the sun, the rain, the wind: every bottle of Tunella captures everything that nature has to offer. We want future generations to be able to enjoy the same taste and aromas, which is why we are committed to sustainable wine production.
The winegrowing family has opted for integrated pest management with low environmental impact to reduce the use of systemic pesticides and chemical fertilizers, and for all operational processes and activities we use clean energy generated by solar panels [WoA].
