Marani Satrapezo ice wine stands for exclusivity, tradition, and the highest level of craftsmanship. The name "Satrapezo" derives from the Greek word "trapeza"—the sacred table. In ancient Georgian culture, these were the finest wines served at ceremonial occasions and reserved only for dignitaries. This special appreciation lives on in the Satrapezo line—wines of exceptional quality and depth that unite the best of selected parcels in the Kondoli vineyards.
- Color: Light golden with shimmering reflections
- Bouquet: The nose smells of ripe pears, candied berries, honey and golden raisins.
- Taste: Lively fruit aromas, underscored by the natural sweetness, are well-balanced with a hint of orange peel. The finish is fresh with a fruity note, followed by an enticing citrus flavor that lingers in the mouth long after drinking.
This ice wine is made exclusively from fully frozen Rkatsiteli grapes, hand-harvested in early December at temperatures of around -9°C. The natural frost concentration causes the frozen water to separate from the sugars, acids, and aromatic compounds, leaving behind a highly concentrated must of impressive intensity. After careful selection and gentle pressing, a slow, temperature-controlled fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks for approximately two months. The wine then matures for several months under refrigeration, is carefully filtered, bottled, and further refined in the bottle before release.
- Winemaker/Winery: Marani, Telavi Wine Cellar, Kakheti, Georgia
- Wine type: White wine, bottle, 375ml, sweet, Qvevri, barrique (12-24 months)
- Ingredients: Grapes, acidity regulators (contains tartaric acid and/or malic acid), antioxidant (ascorbic acid), preservative (sulfur dioxide). Bottled by Telavi Wine Cellar in a protective atmosphere.
In the glass, the Marani Satrapezo Icewine presents itself with brilliant clarity and intense aromas. Lush notes of candied citrus fruits, honey, ripe apricot, and exotic accents combine with a lively acidity that provides elegance and balance. Despite its concentrated sweetness, it is precise and harmonious, with a long, complex finish. An exceptional dessert wine for special moments – powerful, refined, and impressively sophisticated.
