Biondi-Santi Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG

A rainy winter was followed by a rather rainy spring, but with mild temperatures. Summer brought sunshine, warmth, and stability with temperatures below the seasonal average. The rainfall between late August and early September extended the harvest period and favored a very slow but balanced ripening of the grapes, during which the fruit benefited from significant temperature fluctuations between day and night, enriching their aromatic notes. The harvest for the 2016 vintage began on September 19th, more than a week later than Biondi-Santi normai's usual standards.

The Riserva was produced exclusively from a selection of grapes from the estate's own vineyards, sourced from the oldest parcels. The Brunello di Montalcino Riserva was vinified in vertical Slavonian oak vats using indigenous yeasts selected from the vineyards. It was then aged for three years in Slavonian oak barrels.

Structure and grace, tension and fragrance define the personality of this Riserva, in which dark cherries and dried violets find depth in endless balsamic sensations and aromas of Mediterranean herbs, menthol, old leather, and flint. On the palate, the firm structure of the youthful tannins, still pleasantly lively, and the vibrant freshness testify to a vintage destined for a long life. The finish is long and seductive with notes of dried herbs, enveloped by spicy, iodine-rich sensations [WoA].
