D'Angelo Winery – Authentic Aglianico from the foot of Monte Vulture

Do you want to taste the soul of Basilicata in a glass? Then you should get to know the D'Angelo winery – a name that has stood for passionate craftsmanship, deep-rooted tradition, and first-class Aglianico wines for almost a century. In the wildly romantic region surrounding the extinct volcano Monte Vulture, powerful and characterful wines are produced here, perfectly reflecting the unique terroir of the southern Italian hills.

The story of Casa Vinicola D'Angelo began as early as 1924, long before the region gained international recognition. Then as now, quality, sustainability, and origin are paramount. The focus is primarily on the indigenous grape variety Aglianico del Vulture, the "Barolo of the South." This wine expresses the region's volcanic soils and continental microclimate with unparalleled depth and elegance – powerful, spicy, structured, and with excellent aging potential.

Today, Rocco and Erminia D'Angelo, the fourth generation of the family, manage the winery with great dedication and fresh ideas. Rocco is responsible for the vineyards and the winemaking process, while Erminia – supported by her mother Franca – oversees worldwide distribution. Together, they ensure that the D'Angelo name is synonymous with top quality internationally – with over 250,000 bottles exported annually to countries such as Germany, Canada, Japan, and the USA.

What distinguishes D'Angelo is the combination of tradition and innovation. The vineyards in Barile and Maschito, at an altitude of approximately 400 meters, are cultivated using natural methods, the grapes are harvested by hand and processed using modern cellar technology – always with the aim of preserving the expression of the soil and the grape variety in the best possible way.

Besides Aglianico, D'Angelo also produces Merlot, Primitivo, Moscato, and Malvasia, complemented by elegant rosé and white wines, as well as grappa. Particularly popular, in addition to the classic, aged red wines, are the young and fruity versions, such as the "Sacravite," which offers an ideal introduction to the world of Aglianico.
