Preparations for the Neuburg Wine Festival 2020

Letting summer slip by without a meeting with winemakers? Michael Jaschek and Wolfgang Angeli, the two founders of the Neuburg-based startup Winetory.net, couldn't imagine it. During a casual wine evening with Munich sommelier Andrea Vestri, they quickly hatched a plan to organize a meeting with winemakers, taking into account the current restrictions and recommendations for events. This led to the concept of the first Neuburg Wine Festival in 2020.

To realize such an event concept, sufficient space is needed to implement a suitable hygiene plan. The choice quickly fell on the Hotel Restaurant Kirchbaur Hof, owned by the Gunzner family in Neuburg Bittenbrunn. The spacious grounds, with their historic vaulted barn and covered terrace, are ideal for providing ample space for winemakers and wine enthusiasts.

Winemakers from Germany, Austria, and Italy will be traveling to the event, bringing their wines for tasting. At the same time, regional businesses with a connection to wine, fine food, cuisine, and aesthetics are invited to showcase their products and services. For example, visitors can sample chocolates, test wine glasses at a local retailer, or try their hand at macro photography with a high-quality digital camera during a photo safari.

“After the difficult weeks and months, it is important to us to give the winemakers an opportunity to showcase their wines at the Neuburg Wine Festival,” explains Michael Jaschek, describing the festival's goals. “Before and after the tastings, visitors can explore the various stalls of local vendors and service providers and discover their offerings. Ultimately, everyone benefits from this networking,” Jaschek continues.

For those less familiar with wine, a special experience awaits with sommelier Andrea Vestri, owner of the European Wine Education sommelier school in Munich. The sommelier offers guided tours for small groups to the various winemakers' stands. In conversation with the winemakers, he explains the production methods and special characteristics of the wines and answers participants' questions.

Registration for the Neuburg Wine Festival 2020 is only possible online at Winetory.net/weinfest. Each participant must register and will then receive unlimited access from a specific time between 5 pm and 10 pm. This is to ensure compliance with the hygiene regulations for registration and to distribute visitor flow, thus maintaining social distancing as effectively as possible. The €15 ticket price also includes a bottle of wine for each guest, which will be handed out at the exit.

Dolcevino GbR, the company behind the platform Winetory.net, was founded in Neuburg in March 2019. Michael Jaschek, Wolfgang Angeli, and Andrea Vestri aim to connect winemakers with wine enthusiasts online. They utilize all relevant social media channels to share their wine knowledge. Particularly innovative and popular are the regularly held online live tastings with winemakers, conducted by sommelier Andrea on Facebook and Instagram. Their latest project is a wine quiz app that allows users to interactively test their wine knowledge.
